Student Wellbeing

Ascot Vale Special School’s leadership team has the overall responsibility for the well being of its students.   This team works closely with staff, students, families and Allied health professionals to support and, where necessary, refer on to specialised services. Parents are offered formal and informal support and advocacy, with regular forums on a variety of topics such as anxiety and sexuality. We hold siblings nights and parent outings and a Wellbeing camp which targets specific students each year.

Positive partnerships with communities are forged providing our students an opportunity to feel valued members of society.

Students are given opportunities to learn leadership skills via SRC and we have Junior and Senior captains who are active participants at regular assemblies. We have a student representative on our School Council.

The school prides itself on celebrating student success, rewarding positive behaviour using a whole school approach to discipline. We strive to “catch them being good” and work to their individual strengths.
